Who writes this site
Rebuild Cost Calculator is operated and edited under the pseudonymous editorial entity Rebuild Cost Calculator Editorial, backed by a sole-member LLC. Methodology, engine, and content are authored in-house. Construction-cost and insurance-statute review is done in collaboration with subject-matter researchers under a freelance editorial process; named bylines are added on pages where a specific contributor reviewed the math or the citations.
Editorial standards
Every numeric claim ties to a primary source — federal statute, agency document, BLS or Census data release, ICC publication, or state-government publication. Where we paraphrase, we link the source so readers can compare; where we quote, the quoted text is character-exact to the source as retrieved on the page's last-updated date. We do not copy-paste from third-party explanatory sites (insurance-industry blogs, broker marketing pages); those are referenced only where they provide aggregated data that has no primary equivalent.
Corrections policy
If you spot an error — a $/sqft figure off by more than $1, a misattributed citation, a broken link, an outdated statute reference, or a metro modifier that conflicts with a current Census Building Permits release — email hello@rebuildcostcalc.comwith the page URL and the source you'd like us to compare against. We aim to reply within five business days and to issue the correction within two weeks of the report being verified. Corrected pages get a "Last updated" date bump and the correction is noted in our internal changelog.
